Introduction
Portal is a San Francisco-based stablecoin infrastructure company providing embedded, non-custodial wallets for fintechs, payment providers, and consumer applications. Founded in 2021 and led by co-founder and CEO Parsa Attari, Portal uses multi-party computation (MPC) to let developers offer secure wallets without seed phrases. Its infrastructure supports 100+ blockchains through Web, iOS, Android, React Native, and Flutter SDKs and a server-side Enclave MPC API, with gas sponsorship, swaps, payment integrations, and transaction controls built in. In July 2025, Portal was acquired by the Monad Foundation and continues to operate as a chain-neutral platform.
In November 2025, Portal launched its integration with Yield.xyz, bringing staking, lending, and DeFi vaults into its wallet infrastructure. Through one integration, Portal customers can discover yield opportunities, deposit, track positions, and withdraw using the same wallets and SDKs they already use for payments and transfers.
Challenges
- Making DeFi accessible to everyday users: Portal's customers serve users who are often unfamiliar with DeFi. Yield had to become familiar deposit, balance, and withdrawal experiences without exposing protocol mechanics.
- Supporting gas-sponsored transactions: Portal lets applications cover fees for users, including wallets holding only stablecoins. Many protocols, particularly on Solana, require native tokens for fees and account creation, which breaks that experience.
- Scaling yield across multiple customers: As an infrastructure provider, Portal needed one reusable integration serving many applications, each with its own yield selection, rather than separate connections to validators, lending protocols, and vault managers.
Yield.xyz Solution
- Unified yield infrastructure: One Yield.xyz API for staking, lending, and vault opportunities across networks, integrated into Portal's SDKs and Enclave MPC API. Customers activate it from the Portal Dashboard with their own Yield.xyz credentials and control which opportunities their applications show.
- Native wallet execution: Yield.xyz constructs the unsigned transactions to enter, manage, and exit positions. Portal signs and executes through its MPC infrastructure and reports hashes back for tracking. No custody moves to Yield.xyz and no separate wallet is needed.
- Gas-sponsored DeFi transactions: Working with Portal, Yield.xyz extended its Solana integrations so a separate wallet can cover network fees and account creation. A fee-payer option lets Portal sponsor those costs while users deposit from wallets holding only USDC, covering Kamino vaults and Solana lending markets.
- Curated yield discovery: Yield.xyz worked with Portal to recommend opportunities by network and asset, prioritising established markets, liquidity, and simple entry and exit over the highest advertised APY.
- Expansion into borrowing and perpetual futures: The integration grew to include Yield.xyz's Borrow API across Aave, Morpho, SparkLend, and Lista, and in September 2026 Portal added perpetual futures powered by Yield.xyz's Perps API and Hyperliquid integration, without onboarding another provider.
Results & Impact
- Yield embedded in Portal's wallet infrastructure: Developers add staking, lending, and vaults through Portal's existing SDKs and APIs, with deposits, withdrawals, and position tracking alongside the wallet functions they already use.
- Gasless access to Solana yield: Portal-powered applications offer USDC deposits into supported Kamino vaults and lending markets without users holding SOL, and the fee-payer functionality built for Portal is now available to every Yield.xyz integrator.
- A dedicated yield distribution channel: Portal launched yield.portalhq.io in mid-2026, showcasing more than 2,900 yield opportunities across 80+ networks through Yield.xyz, with use cases such as neobank savings, yield on remittance balances, and embedded earn.
- Beyond earn: Borrowing and perpetual futures run through the same Portal API environment, extending one integration into three product lines.
Portal provides wallet infrastructure to businesses building financial applications, making yield available at the infrastructure layer rather than through a separate DeFi interface. By integrating Yield.xyz into its SDKs and APIs, Portal gives developers access to thousands of yield opportunities while preserving the wallet experience, transaction controls, and gas sponsorship they already provide. For end users, this means accessing yield from the same wallet they use to hold and transfer stablecoins, without needing a separate application or native tokens to cover supported transaction fees.
