Introduction
IBM Digital Asset Haven is IBM's enterprise platform for digital asset operations, built for banks, financial institutions, payment providers, governments, and regulated enterprises. Announced in October 2025 and co-developed with wallet infrastructure provider Dfns, the platform combines wallets-as-a-service, policy-controlled transaction orchestration, programmable governance with roles and approval quorums, and key management based on IBM multiparty computation and hardware security modules, with transaction lifecycle support across 40 public and private blockchains. It is offered as a fully managed SaaS, as a hybrid model where the client controls signing infrastructure, and as an on-premises deployment on IBM LinuxONE.
To let clients put digital assets to work without leaving that environment, IBM Digital Asset Haven natively integrated Yield.xyz. Clients can discover supported yield opportunities, deposit, monitor positions, and withdraw inside the IBM platform, under the same governance and transaction controls that cover every other operation.
Challenges
- Institutions on IBM Digital Asset Haven had established controls for holding and moving digital assets, but earning on them meant stepping outside the platform into protocol interfaces and separate position tracking.
- Each yield source requires its own opportunity data, protocol-specific transaction construction, and position lifecycle. Building and maintaining that per protocol would multiply engineering and operating work.
- Every deposit and withdrawal had to run through the client's configured governance: programmable transaction policies, role-based permissions, approval workflows, and wallet management, with no parallel execution path.
- Enterprise and government clients require that externally constructed transaction payloads are independently verified before they reach signing.
Yield.xyz Solution
- Native integration inside IBM Digital Asset Haven: Yield.xyz supplies standardized opportunity and position data, so supported vaults, rates, and balances are presented inside the IBM platform alongside other wallet activity. Users select an eligible wallet and opportunity, enter an amount, review the transaction, and submit.
- Curated stablecoin vaults at launch: The initial integration provides six stablecoin vaults across Ethereum and Base, including Morpho lending strategies and Sky Savings, covering USDC, USDT, PYUSD, and USDS. Yield.xyz can add further opportunities through the same integration as they become available.
- Transactions built by Yield.xyz, governed by IBM: Yield.xyz constructs each unsigned deposit and withdrawal transaction. IBM Digital Asset Haven then applies the client's policies, permissions, and approval workflow, and signing and execution happen within the IBM environment.
- Shield verification before signing: Yield.xyz Shield decodes every payload and checks the transaction structure, contract call, and parameters against the verified pattern for the selected operation. A payload that deviates is rejected before it reaches signing, adding an independent check between construction and execution.
- One integration, growing coverage: Yield.xyz standardizes opportunity data, transaction logic, and position management across protocols, so IBM Digital Asset Haven supports new vaults and networks without new protocol-specific builds.
Results & Impact
- IBM Digital Asset Haven clients can access onchain yield from the same operating environment they use for custody, transactions, and settlement, extending the platform from holding digital assets to putting them to work.
- Every yield action remains a standard platform transaction. Policies, approval quorums, and audit trails apply unchanged, and clients review and approve each action before signing.
- Positions and withdrawals stay visible and controllable within the IBM platform, without reconnecting to the underlying protocol.
- Yield.xyz's infrastructure now sits inside enterprise-grade digital asset platforms from IBM, Dfns, Fordefi, and Utila, demonstrating one integration pattern for institutional custody and governance stacks.
Institutions have spent years building the infrastructure to hold and move digital assets securely. IBM Digital Asset Haven extends that foundation to yield by integrating Yield.xyz natively: standardized opportunity data, protocol-specific transaction construction, and Shield verification from Yield.xyz, with IBM providing the wallets, orchestration, and governance that clients already rely on. Starting with six stablecoin vaults across Ethereum and Base, clients can review, approve, and execute yield transactions inside the controls configured for their digital asset operations, and new opportunities arrive through the same integration.
